Casper, Is That You?

Casper, Is That You?

Nikon D3x, Nikkor 16mm f/2.8, f/7.1, ISO 100, 6 exposures

Honestly, it was dark enough here that I thought the algae and slime was more black than green. It was light enough to see the way up the stairs, but dim enough that I never saw ‘Casper’ at all. I didn’t notice his ghostly form until after I was home and brought the exposures into Lightroom. It wasn’t until then that I had a title for this post – I was really wondering what to name this. I shot this with my new Nikkor 16mm fisheye because I wanted to get a lot in the frame with a short distance and I thought I would really like the curves of the walls and ceiling playing with the curved staircase.

Hint: If you don’t see Casper, stare at the wall near the bottom step. Don’t worry – he’s friendly.

I love the luminous silver light at the top of the stairs; it just beckons you to keep going. The curves just hug the stairs and wrap all that green slime in a perfectly framed bundle. Very unique shot John!

Awesome shot I love the lighting and the perspective as the stairs climb and wind up and out of frame. Very cool! Thank Jason Hines as his Friday Photo Spot directed me to your site :)
