Extreme Pools

Nikon D3x, Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8, 14mm, f/2.8, ISO 1600, 6 exposures

This was taken within a few minutes of the photo in the last post from a little further back from the pool to include the chairs and more of the environment.  Other than the additional environment in this picture, the obvious difference is the processing.  While I occasionally like extreme processing with HDR photos I generally try to stay away from it (or at least I think I do) because I’ve seen so many poorly processed extreme HDR.  However, in this case, I specifically wanted something that contrasted with the last post and I was playing around with different options and experimenting with the HDR methods and structure slider in HDR Efex Pro and decided this rendition made an interesting and unique image.  Yes, those are stars in the sky, not noise in the photos :)

I took 7 exposures, but had to toss the brightest, longest exposed image because there was too much camera movement.  Tough taking hand-held long exposure images at night, so this was processes with 6 images.  You can see from this image that the pool chairs are sitting in the water (hint – look at the legs of the two middle chairs).  I took the photos for the last image posted while sitting on the drink table you see at the right of this image.
